The 50th State Fair is
as time of family fun. You can sample a the usual
fair foods such as hot dogs and cotton candy. But you will also find
lots of saimin (noodles) and a huge plate lunch with the obligatory mac
salad and two scoops of rice.
The 50th State Fair is a fun event and
is held at Aloha Stadium. The celebration lasts about a month from
mid-May to mid-June. Rides are provided by E.K. Fernandez Shows. E.K.
has since passed on however the business is now run by family members.

If you are interested you can
purchase your own carnival rides directly from
E.K. Fernandez..
Imagine owning your own 1999
Inverter or a Giant Ferris Wheel from 1992. Or maybe you
would be interested in purchasing your own Mobile Food Wagon.
There is also a tilt-a-whirl (1995) available as well as a 1992
Zipper. Personally, I can't wait to get my hands on that ride for
my own backyard.

Discover one of Hawaii's Secret treasures, Bruddah Iz:
I was fortunate to have seen
Bruddah Iz (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole) in concert with the Makaha
Son's. He had an incredible voice and was very charismatic. I spoke
recently with his former high school math teacher who said instead
of coming into class, he would sit outside, strumming his Ukulele. He
explained to here he wasn't really interested in math.
"No need", he told her.
