Visiting The Lava Fields on The Big Island

From Espo’s Notebook on a recent visit to The Big Island (Hawaii):

Smoking hot Volcanoes and lava flowing right under your feet. Really hot, I mean what can you say, AWESOME!

It was a two hour hike over the lava fields to get to the active vent where the hot lava flowed into the sea. It is new land, rugged lava fields and black sand beaches. The expanding magma hitting the water expands and even floats steaming on the surface of the water, Amazing!
