\u00a0\u00a0This is an open message for everyone who plans on visiting the Islands. This\u00a0information is extremly important.<\/p>\n

Some Hawaii Visitor professionals<\/strong>\u00a0do not want you to know this.\u00a0 I think you need to know the truth. This is vital for your own safety and protection.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I live in Hawaii. I love Hawaii. I love the people, the food, the mountains and the sea. That said, I want to share with you my number\u00a0one\u00a0tip<\/strong> about Hawaii.<\/p>\n

This information\u00a0is sometimes mentioned, but I feel it is to often, swept under the carpet.<\/p>\n

This is the most important lesson<\/strong> you can learn from me.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0will\u00a0be totally honest with you and not hold anything back. Believe me, I wouldn\u2019t have it any other way.<\/p>\n

You need to be careful out there!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most of the people in Hawaii are full of the Aloha spirit. You will meet incredible people of all different cultures. Enjoy them. They are, to me, what makes Hawaii, Hawaii. This is a very special place. Most of the people here are special people.<\/p>\n

Understand this:<\/p>\n

There is a small, active, number of people who want to ruin your vacation. They are watching you. They are hiding in the shadows. They see you even if you don\u2019t see them. They are what I refer to as,\u00a0the cockroaches of Hawaii<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

These are the Bad Men<\/strong>.\u00a0Their full time job is stealing from others. This means,\u00a0these low-lifes, rip\u00a0off<\/strong> other people for their own selfish gains.<\/p>\n

You need to be careful.<\/strong> Common sense is the name of the game. Yes, you are on vacation on one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Yes, you want to have a great time. Yes most of the people you meet are great.<\/p>\n

Here are \u00a0the key words: most but not all.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But be aware<\/strong>. Do not let your guard down. Do not give them a chance to rip you off. Know your surroundings. Do not leave anything of value in your rental car.<\/p>\n

Theses cockroaches know the rental cars you drive. Your rental car to them is a magnet. They see an unprotected rental car and they think they are going shopping. Your valuables are what they are shopping for.<\/p>\n

Let me say it again: Do Not Ever Leave valuables in your rental car.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Never, ever, never.<\/strong> Do not leave your money, credit cards, camera, wallet, purse, pictures or any other valuables in your car. Don\u2019t leave anything in your car that you care about.<\/p>\n

These cockroaches are slick. You will be watching a beautiful ocean scene or mountain view. You will take a few steps away from your car. You will be enjoying the wonderful scenery.<\/p>\n

This is their crime of opportunity. These cockroaches are watching you. Be aware. Be careful. Do not give them any opportunity to ruin your vacation.<\/p>\n

Remember, your rental car is a beacon, to the cockroaches. Your rental car sends out this signal: Please steal from this car.<\/p>\n

I am not kidding about this. This is important.<\/p>\n

This includes your luggage, gifts or anything else you value.<\/p>\n

Over the years, I have heard countless horror stories of people having items stolen from their rental cars. I still hear them.\u00a0 You cannot let your guard down for an instant!<\/p>\n

Locals also can be victims, but it seems to me, these cockroaches, target rental cars. They know what the rental cars look like. They know how to break in.<\/p>\n

(And of course, this\u00a0awareness for safety\u00a0includes restaurants,\u00a0your hotel room and any time you are out in public.\u00a0as well. If you have something of value, keep it with you. Do not leave it in your rental car.)<\/p>\n

OK, I hope I made my point. If this tip saves one person from being a victim of a crime, I have done a good job.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Please be careful. Take care. Use common sense and you will be OK.<\/p>\n

\u00a0As I said most people in Hawaii are wonderful. We need to take care of each other and not be victims of these losers.<\/p>\n
