In my last post I described\u00a0how 3,150 Christmas \u00a0trees were banned from Hawaii\u00a0due to the discovery of invasive species on the trees. (See the previous post)<\/strong> The Christmas<\/strong> trees were infested with hornets and other unknown bugs.<\/p>\n

Anyone who has been to Hawaii<\/strong>, knows\u00a0 you need to fill out State Agriculture Forms<\/strong> declaring that you are not bringing any agriculture products, animals or reptiles into the state. Hawaii<\/strong>\u00a0has a frail eco-system and any foreign produce or animals could cause untold damage here.<\/p>\n

So what happened to the 3,150 Christmas<\/strong> trees that were not allowed to be unloaded from the jet that brought them?<\/p>\n

Here is a story you will not\u00a0hear about in\u00a0newspaper, or television report. Radio stations and websites, have no idea what happened. As a matter of fact, the word on the street is: nobody knows what happened.<\/p>\n

Here’s the story:<\/p>\n

I ran into Moana<\/strong> Pacatang,<\/strong> who was\u00a0interviewed for\u00a0the last post in this blog.
\n(See Previous Post\u00a0Below)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0I asked : “Mona<\/strong>, what ever did happen to those Chirstmas trees that were banned from Hawaii?”<\/p>\n

“Albert” she explained. “The trees had come from a Christmas tree farm in Oregon<\/strong>. The owners of the farm felt terrible that the trees did not pass agricultue inspection.”<\/p>\n

“So they were sent back to Oregon<\/strong>?” I asked.<\/p>\n

“No, not exactly” she continued. “The plane that brought the trees,\u00a0left Hawaii<\/strong> and flew to Alaska<\/strong>. Once the plane landed,\u00a0it was decided that the trees would be unloaded there. Then a funny thing happened. The owners of the trees asked if the trees could be sold to make money for charity. And that is what finally happened.”<\/p>\n

“All of the tees were sold to families in Alaska. All the money from the sale of the trees was donated to a local charity.”<\/p>\n

So although some families in Hawaii\u00a0 got stiffed by not having a Christmas<\/strong> tree, the Spirit of Christmas <\/strong>lived on through the donation to charity, by\u00a0the sale of\u00a0the trees. Plus, a bunch of Alaskan families got to enjoy the trees as well.<\/p>\n

We have a kind of Gift of the Magi, <\/strong>thing going on here. This to me sounds like a fair trade indeed.<\/p>\n

Everyone knows, it is more blessed to give than to receive. So there you have it, an exclusive story and a modern day Christmas<\/strong> Tree Tale. Remember you read it here, first.<\/p>\n
